Ceiling Fixers
Entry Requirements
Experience as a labourer or tradesperson will give you an advantage.
You'll need a reasonable level of fitness.
Essential that you hold CSCS card, PAZAM card and IPAF card.

Duties
-
Setting out, cutting and fixing aluminium frameworks
-
Checking frameworks are horizontal, using spirit, laser or water levels
-
Fitting ceiling panels to frameworks
-
Cutting and shaping panels to fit around lights and other fixtures
You’ll use hand and power tools and work from access platforms, ladders or scaffolding.
You might also fit insulation materials into ceiling spaces before installing panels, or fit partitioning, dry lining, or raised access flooring.
Salary
Your salary will either be based on price work (per meter) or day rate (set rate for a days work) salaries could increase with working overtime, shifts, or bonuses.
Working Hours, Patterns and Environment
You’ll usually work 39 hours a week but overtime, including weekend working, may be available. You’ll be based indoors, often working at height and sometimes in cramped and confined spaces. You’ll wear protective equipment for all jobs and Duke Trades LTD will provide you with a polo shirt with our logo on it and a Hi-vis with our logo on it.

Dry Liners
Entry Requirements
Experience
You'll need a reasonable level of fitness.
Essential that you hold CSCS card, PAZAM card and IPAF card.

good maths skills for working out surface areas and angles

accuracy and attention to detail

the ability to read technical diagrams
Duties
Your work will involve a ‘fixing' stage, followed by a ’finishing' stage.
At the 'fixing’ stage, you’ll:
-
measure and cut plasterboard to the right sizes and angles
-
fix panels to timber, metal frames or ceiling joists using special studs
-
cut panels to fit around doorways and create openings for windows
You’ll then ‘finish’ the walls by:
-
sealing joints using filler or adhesive
-
taping over the seal either by hand or with a taping machine
-
applying a thin layer of plaster over the tape (skimming)
-
sanding down the area ready for painting and decorating
Salary
Your salary will either be based on price work (per meter) or day rate (set rate for a days work) salaries could increase with working overtime, shifts, or bonuses.
Working Hours, Patterns and Environment
You’ll usually work up to 40 hours a week. You may have to work evenings, nights or weekends on commercial contracts, to limit disruption to your client’s business. The work can be physically demanding. You’ll work at height, from ladders or a small scaffold when fitting ceilings. You may need a driving licence.
